Sri. M. Mathew, Chairman, Muthoot Mercantile Limited is the Registered Proprietor of the Trade / Word Mark ‘MUTHOOT’ bearing Trade Mark No.1267883 dated 19-02-2004 issued as per the Certificate of Registration of Trade Mark No.425204 dated 19-09-2005.He has the exclusive legal right on the Word Mark ‘MUTHOOT’ by virtue of the provisions under Trade Marks Act, 1999. Hence usage of the Word / Trade Mark ‘MUTHOOT’ or any other Mark which is identical and / or deceptively similar thereof by any other person / corporate is liable for legal action under Intellectual Property Right.

The Proprietor of the Trade Mark Mr. M. Mathew has already filed a Suit (O.S. No.6 of 2013) before the Hon’ble District Court, Kottayam in Kerala to prevent the misuse and unauthorized usage of his Trademark “MUTHOOT” by Muthoot Finance Ltd, Muthoot Mini Financiers Ltd and Muthoot Fincorp Ltd. from infringing the registered Trade Mark ‘MUTHOOT’. He has pleaded to prevent them from passing off their goods/business as that of his business by diverting his customers to their own fold/enterprises and diluting his well known and popular Trademark “MUTHOOT”.
